Rachel Rogel's Original Art
Lost at sea
When I started this painting I was thinking about how life can be
overwhelming and we can sometimes be "lost" in the ebb
and flow of life. We want to be unique and to be understood by those around us, but find ourselves just disappearing
into the background. Somehow in the process, though, I ended up with a picture that usually elicits a positive response from
people who see it. Maybe finding ourselves in the sea of life is an experience in which we can all eventually find peace.
Strata, or I Need to Breathe
This painting allowed me to express some painful and chaotic
emotions. The actual process of moving my arm
to create long strokes was soothing to me. The result, which to me is an emphatic piece, helps me remember that I can
assert myself in positive ways in the midst of emotional struggles.
Rachel Rogel lives in Ohio where she enjoys expressing herself through art, gardening,
cooking and getting together with friends from her local support group.
